In value terms, wood milling machine exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. The global exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
China was the key exporter of planing, milling or moulding machines in the world, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was near 57% of total exports in 2021. Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) took a 21% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the Netherlands (6.2%). Germany (X units), the UK (X units) and Belgium (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to wood milling machine exports from China stood at +8.3%. At the same time, Germany (+17.0%), the UK (+13.6%), the Netherlands (+11.4%) and Belgium (+6.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Germany emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +17.0% from 2012-2021. Taiwan (Chinese) experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of China, Germany and the Netherlands increased by +9.4, +2.5 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively. In value terms, China ($X), Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) and Germany ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 65% of global exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK, which together accounted for a further 3.8%.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +19.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average wood milling machine export price amounted to $X per unit, growing by 37% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the UK ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Germany (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 7.1% share, followed by the Netherlands (6%), Thailand (5%) and India (4.6%). Belgium (X units), Canada (X units), South Africa (X units), the UK (X units), Qatar (X units), Austria (X units), France (X units) and Russia (X units) held a minor share of total imports.
Imports into the United States increased at an average annual rate of +11.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Germany (+23.6%), South Africa (+18.9%), India (+18.7%), Austria (+17.8%), Belgium (+17.3%), France (+13.0%), Thailand (+11.7%), the Netherlands (+9.8%) and Canada (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Germany emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +23.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the UK (-2.0%), Russia (-5.3%) and Qatar (-7.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The United States (+7.2 p.p.), Germany (+5.1 p.p.), India (+2.7 p.p.), Belgium (+2.4 p.p.), South Africa (+2.2 p.p.), Austria (+1.6 p.p.) and Thailand (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Canada, the UK, Russia and Qatar saw its share reduced by -1.8%, -4.3%, -5.7% and -9.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported planing, milling or moulding machines worldwide, comprising 21% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 5.5% share of global imports. It was followed by Russia, with a 5.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United States amounted to +5.6%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+11.0% per year) and Russia (-4.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average wood milling machine import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, which is down by -5.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced decline.
