In value terms, the largest refined maize oil supplying countries worldwide were the United States ($X), Turkey ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X), together comprising 49% of global exports. Tunisia, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Spain, China, Egypt, Canada, France and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

Egypt, with a CAGR of +9.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, Libya (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) were the largest importers of refined maize (corn) oilaround the world, together amounting to near 32% of total imports. Tunisia (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Egypt (X tons). All these countries together held near 17% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Germany, Oman, the United States, Canada, Malaysia and Qatar, which together accounted for a further 33%.

The average refined maize oil import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
