In 2022, the global average yield of rye stood at X tons per ha, picking up by 5.6% on 2021. Poland (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the major exporters of rye in 2022, finishing at near 32% and 24% of total exports, respectively. Canada (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 12% share, followed by Latvia (8.4%). The average rye export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 32% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The purchases of the five major importers of rye, namely Germany, the United States, Spain, the Netherlands and Tanzania, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Denmark (X tons), Latvia (X tons) and Portugal (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Tanzania (with a CAGR of +634.3%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest rye importing markets worldwide were Germany ($X), the United States ($X) and Spain ($X), together accounting for 55% of global imports. Tanzania, the Netherlands, Denmark, Latvia and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.
Tanzania, with a CAGR of +960.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average rye import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, rye import price increased by +63.9% against 2020 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
