The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 45%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the global exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, sailboat exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 46%. Over the period under review, the global exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In 2021, the UK (X units), Australia (X units), the Netherlands (X units), South Africa (X units) and France (X units) represented the main exporter of sailboats for pleasure or sports, with or without auxiliary motor in the world, mixing up 65% of total export. Poland (X units), Thailand (X units), China (X units), Finland (X units), the United States (X units), Germany (X units) and Italy (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +30.4%), while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X) remains the largest sailboat supplier worldwide, comprising 36% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 10% share of global exports. It was followed by Finland, with a 9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in France totaled +12.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Netherlands (+38.5% per year) and Finland (+13.5% per year).

The average sailboat export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 4.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded perceptible growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Bahamas represented the largest importer of sailboats for pleasure or sports, with or without auxiliary motor in the world, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was approx. 45% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Qatar (X units) and the Netherlands (X units), together making up a 20% share of total imports. The following importers - British Virgin Islands (X units), Greece (X units), the United States (X units), France (X units), the UK (X units), Gibraltar (X units), Germany (X units), Italy (X units) and Spain (X units) - together made up 22% of total imports.
Bahamas was also the fastest-growing in terms of the sailboats for pleasure or sports, with or without auxiliary motor imports, with a CAGR of +61.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Greece (+35.2%), the Netherlands (+17.7%), Gibraltar (+16.2%), France (+13.9%), Spain (+11.7%), Germany (+10.1%), Italy (+7.5%), the United States (+4.6%) and British Virgin Islands (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, the UK (-1.9%) and Qatar (-10.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Bahamas (+44 p.p.), the Netherlands (+4.6 p.p.) and Greece (+3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of the UK (-1.7 p.p.) and Qatar (-40.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest sailboat importing markets worldwide were British Virgin Islands ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the United States ($X), together accounting for 34% of global imports. The UK, France, Italy, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Spain, Bahamas and Qatar lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 37%.
Among the main importing countries, Greece, with a CAGR of +27.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average sailboat import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -30.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, enjoyed pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average import price increased by 292%. Global import price peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
