Global consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, seat production declined slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, the total production indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -32.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 18%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2020 to 2021, global production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of seats increased by 22% to X tons, rising for the fourth year in a row after three years of decline. In general, total exports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +87.1% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 44%. The global exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, seat exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +64.9% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
China dominates exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 64% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - Vietnam (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) - together made up 20% of total exports.
Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Vietnam (+14.7%), the Netherlands (+10.7%), Poland (+10.5%), Germany (+6.0%), Turkey (+4.1%) and Italy (+2.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +14.7% from 2012-2021. China (+2.8 p.p.) and Vietnam (+2.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest seat supplier worldwide, comprising 47% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($X), with a 9.2% share of global exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 7.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to +6.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+23.1% per year) and Poland (+8.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average seat export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 4.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 15%. The global export price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+7.3%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country
In 2021, the United States (X tons) represented the key importer of seats, generating 31% of total imports. Germany (X tons) held an 8% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Netherlands (5.6%) and France (4.8%). The UK (X tons), Japan (X tons), Canada (X tons), Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Australia (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.
Imports into the United States increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Poland (+18.4%), the Netherlands (+11.8%), Italy (+10.2%), South Korea (+7.8%), the UK (+7.0%), Spain (+6.3%), Germany (+6.2%), France (+3.7%), Belgium (+3.1%), Australia (+2.8%), Canada (+2.7%) and Japan (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +18.4% from 2012-2021. The United States (+4 p.p.) and the Netherlands (+2.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported seats worldwide, comprising 28% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 9% share of global imports. It was followed by France, with a 5.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United States totaled +6.4%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+5.3% per year) and France (+2.7% per year).
