After five years of decline, the global ski-suit market increased by 10% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a noticeable shrinkage. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the global market remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ski-suit production expanded markedly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, showed a noticeable setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 125%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2021, global production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Global ski-suit exports soared to X units in 2021, with an increase of 16% on 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, ski-suit exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

China prevails in exports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 57% of total exports in 2021. The Netherlands (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 7.4% share, followed by Poland (4.6%). Nicaragua (X units), Myanmar (X units), Bangladesh (X units), Mexico (X units), Germany (X units), Democratic People's Republic of Korea (X units) and the United States (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from China decreased at an average annual rate of -2.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Nicaragua (+67.5%), Poland (+27.0%), the Netherlands (+11.0%), Myanmar (+3.4%) and Bangladesh (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Nicaragua emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +67.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Germany (-1.6%), the United States (-5.6%), Democratic People's Republic of Korea (-7.3%) and Mexico (-21.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Netherlands (+5.1 p.p.), Nicaragua (+4.4 p.p.) and Poland (+4.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Mexico saw its share reduced by -10.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest ski-suit supplier worldwide, comprising 41% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Nicaragua ($X), with a 9.1% share of global exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with an 8.1% share.

In China, ski-suit exports contracted by an average annual rate of -3.5% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Nicaragua (+77.6% per year) and the Netherlands (+16.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average ski-suit export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 18%. The global export price peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Nicaragua ($X per unit), while the United States ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles) increased by 44% to X units in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate mild growth. Global imports peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ski-suit imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Global imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, the United States (X units) was the key importer of ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles), mixing up 30% of total imports. The Netherlands (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 11% share, followed by Germany (7.7%), Chile (6.5%) and Poland (5.4%). Denmark (X units), the UK (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units), Kuwait (X units), France (X units), Sweden (X units), Canada (X units) and Japan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into the United States increased at an average annual rate of +14.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kuwait (+40.4%), Poland (+20.7%), the United Arab Emirates (+14.6%), the Netherlands (+10.7%) and Denmark (+4.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +40.4% from 2012-2021. Chile and Canada experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Germany (-1.8%), the UK (-2.2%), France (-3.4%), Sweden (-6.4%) and Japan (-16.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United States (+21 p.p.), the Netherlands (+6.4 p.p.), Poland (+4.3 p.p.), Kuwait (+2.3 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (+2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of Sweden (-2.1 p.p.), Germany (-2.2 p.p.) and Japan (-9.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest ski-suit importing markets worldwide were the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 33% share of global imports. The United States, France, Denmark, the UK, Sweden, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Canada and Chile lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Kuwait, with a CAGR of +43.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average ski-suit import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -13.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a mild slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
