France represented the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which finished at 45% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X tons), China (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Thailand (X tons), together comprising a 41% share of total exports. Germany (X tons) and the United States (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

France was also the fastest-growing in terms of the sorbitol (excluding d-glucitol) exports, with a CAGR of +171.3% from 2012 to 2021. In value terms, the largest sorbitol importing markets worldwide were Spain ($X), Poland ($X) and Vietnam ($X), together comprising 22% of global imports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Germany, Nigeria, Italy, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Slovakia, the UK, South Korea and Russia, which together accounted for a further 37%.
