France was the largest exporting country with an export of about X litres, which resulted at 38% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Armenia (X litres), Spain (X litres) and Georgia (X litres), together creating a 34% share of total exports. Singapore (X litres), Italy (X litres), Moldova (X litres), Portugal (X litres), Germany (X litres), South Africa (X litres), Australia (X litres) and India (X litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.
France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of spirits obtained from distilled grape wine or grape marc. At the same time, India (+17.5%), Portugal (+9.2%), Armenia (+8.4%), Georgia (+8.0%) and South Africa (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +17.5% from 2012-2022. Germany and Australia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Moldova (-2.3%), Singapore (-3.8%), Spain (-7.5%) and Italy (-8.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Armenia, Georgia and France increased by +10, +3.5 and +3 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, France ($X) remains the largest grape wine spirits supplier worldwide, comprising 59% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with an 18% share of global exports. It was followed by Armenia, with a 3.7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in France stood at +2.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (+3.1% per year) and Armenia (+5.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average grape wine spirits export price amounted to $X per litre, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per litre in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per litre), while Portugal ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 27%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X litres, and then declined in the following year.

China (X litres) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 6.4% share, followed by France (5.1%) and Ukraine (4.5%). Portugal (X litres), the UK (X litres), Singapore (X litres), Spain (X litres), Germany (X litres), Belarus (X litres) and Canada (X litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Philippines (with a CAGR of +25.9%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), China ($X) and Singapore ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 66% share of global imports. These countries were followed by Russia, the UK, the Philippines, Germany, Canada, France, Ukraine, Belarus, Spain and Portugal, which together accounted for a further 15%.
In terms of the main importing countries, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +27.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average grape wine spirits import price stood at $X per litre in 2022, increasing by 5.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 6.3%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
