In value terms, plastic ornamental articles exports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of statuettes and other ornamental articles of plastic increased by 7.2% to X tons, rising for the sixth consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +73.8% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Global imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, plastic ornamental articles imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +88.2% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Global imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

The United States represented the main importer of statuettes and other ornamental articles of plastic in the world, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was approx. 38% of total imports in 2022. Hong Kong SAR (X tons) held an 8.1% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Germany (5.1%) and India (4.8%). France (X tons), the UK (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Spain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The United States was also the fastest-growing in terms of the statuettes and other ornamental articles of plastic imports, with a CAGR of +14.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Hong Kong SAR (+11.5%), India (+10.2%), France (+3.3%) and the UK (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Germany and Spain experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Netherlands (-6.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the United States, Hong Kong SAR and India increased by +24, +4.1 and +2.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United States ($X), Hong Kong SAR ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 47% share of global imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Hong Kong SAR, with a CAGR of +17.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average plastic ornamental articles import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
