Overall, total exports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +57.3% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 23%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then fell modestly in the following year.
Exports by Country
The biggest shipments were from Spain (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and the United States (X tons), together accounting for 62% of total export. Greece (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by the Netherlands (X tons). All these countries together held near 14% share of total exports. Belgium (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Egypt (X tons), Morocco (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +55.3%), while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($X), Spain ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 64% of global exports. The Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Belarus, with a CAGR of +39.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average strawberry export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -3.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+9.2%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.6% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced slightly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the United States (X tons), distantly followed by Germany (X tons), Canada (X tons), France (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Russia (X tons) represented the largest importers of strawberries, together committing 66% of total imports. Italy (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Poland (X tons), Mexico (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Romania (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to strawberry imports into the United States stood at +4.9%. At the same time, Romania (+16.2%), Poland (+7.3%), Mexico (+7.0%) and the UK (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +16.2% from 2012-2022. Germany, the Netherlands and Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Canada (-1.4%), Italy (-1.7%), Austria (-3.4%), Belgium (-3.9%) and France (-4.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported strawberries worldwide, comprising 29% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Canada ($X), with a 12% share of global imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 9.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in the United States amounted to +11.6%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Canada (+2.7% per year) and Germany (+1.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
