The global non-chicken table egg market dropped to $X in 2021, shrinking by -2% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Global consumption peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Non-Chicken Table Egg Production

In value terms, non-chicken table egg production amounted to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production continues to indicate a slight reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 79%. Over the period under review, global production hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The country with the largest volume of non-chicken table egg production was China (X tons), accounting for 74% of total volume. Moreover, non-chicken table egg production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Thailand (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Indonesia (X tons), with a 5.5% share.

In China, non-chicken table egg production expanded at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Thailand (+0.1% per year) and Indonesia (+2.9% per year).

Exports

After six years of growth, shipments abroad of table eggs, excluding hen eggs decreased by -30.4% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 55% against the previous year. The global exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-chicken table egg exports rose significantly to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year. The global exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons) represented the major exporter of table eggs, excluding hen eggs, creating 38% of total exports. The United States (X tons) took a 21% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Portugal (7%) and France (5.1%). The following exporters - Spain (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Belarus (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Tunisia (X tons), Australia (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) - together made up 18% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Australia (with a CAGR of +72.3%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest non-chicken table egg supplier worldwide, comprising 36% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 12% share of global exports. It was followed by Spain, with a 6% share.

In the Netherlands, non-chicken table egg exports expanded at an average annual rate of +13.4% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+2.1% per year) and Spain (-0.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average non-chicken table egg export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 57% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. The global export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+20.6%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports

In 2021, supplies from abroad of table eggs, excluding hen eggs decreased by -62.2% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports saw a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 137%. Global imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-chicken table egg imports reduced to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Global imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Spain (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Mexico (X tons), Belgium (X tons), France (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Bahrain (X tons), Israel (X tons), Libya (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Kuwait (X tons) and Russia (X tons) represented roughly 69% of total imports in 2021. Hong Kong SAR (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Bahrain (with a CAGR of +79.6%), while imports for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-chicken table egg importing markets worldwide were Saudi Arabia ($X), Spain ($X) and Mexico ($X), together comprising 29% of global imports. France, Belgium, Bahrain, the Netherlands, Singapore, Russia, Israel, Kuwait, Libya and Hong Kong SAR lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.

Among the main importing countries, Hong Kong SAR, with a CAGR of +36.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average non-chicken table egg import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 127% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a perceptible reduction. Global import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+6.0%), while the other global leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
