The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the production volume increased by 34%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X, and then contracted in the following year.

In 2022, shipments abroad of teleferics, chair-lifts, ski-draglines and traction mechanisms for funiculars was finally on the rise to reach X units after four years of decline. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 47%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the global exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, teleferics and chair-lifts exports reached $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 50% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the global exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Austria represented the major exporting country with an export of around X units, which recorded 49% of total exports. Italy (X units) took a 23% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by France (9.9%). Slovakia (X units), Sweden (X units), China (X units) and the United States (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Austria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of teleferics, chair-lifts, ski-draglines and traction mechanisms for funiculars. At the same time, Sweden (+38.3%), France (+25.4%), Slovakia (+24.9%) and China (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Sweden emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +38.3% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Italy (-2.8%) and the United States (-4.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. France (+8.9 p.p.), Sweden (+3.2 p.p.), Slovakia (+2.8 p.p.) and Austria (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Italy saw its share reduced by -6.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Austria ($X) remains the largest teleferics and chair-lifts supplier worldwide, comprising 46% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 22% share of global exports. It was followed by France, with a 17% share.
In Austria, teleferics and chair-lifts exports plunged by an average annual rate of -1.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (+0.9% per year) and France (+41.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average teleferics and chair-lifts export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 16% against the previous year. The global export price peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while Sweden ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+12.4%), while the other global leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Teleferics And Chair-Lifts Imports
Imports
In 2022, the amount of teleferics, chair-lifts, ski-draglines and traction mechanisms for funiculars imported worldwide contracted dramatically to X units, reducing by -35.7% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a temperate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 141%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, teleferics and chair-lifts imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 31%. Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Singapore represented the key importer of teleferics, chair-lifts, ski-draglines and traction mechanisms for funiculars in the world, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was approx. 32% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X units) and Iceland (X units), together generating a 10% share of total imports. The following importers - the United States (X units), the Dominican Republic (X units), France (X units), Germany (X units), Ukraine (X units), Peru (X units), Vietnam (X units), Sweden (X units), Switzerland (X units) and South Korea (X units) - together made up 32% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to teleferics and chair-lifts imports into Singapore stood at +34.3%. At the same time, the Dominican Republic (+59.6%), Iceland (+54.0%), Ukraine (+38.0%), the United States (+26.4%), Peru (+23.4%), Sweden (+18.0%), New Zealand (+17.5%), Germany (+9.3%), Vietnam (+7.9%) and South Korea (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Dominican Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +59.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, France (-1.8%) and Switzerland (-8.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Singapore (+29 p.p.), Iceland (+4.5 p.p.), the Dominican Republic (+4.1 p.p.), New Zealand (+4 p.p.), the United States (+3.8 p.p.), Ukraine (+2.9 p.p.), Peru (+2.4 p.p.) and Sweden (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2022, the share of France (-3.5 p.p.) and Switzerland (-6.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the Dominican Republic ($X), the United States ($X) and Sweden ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 28% share of global imports.
The Dominican Republic, with a CAGR of +106.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average teleferics and chair-lifts import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 53% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a drastic downturn. Global import price peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($X per unit), while New Zealand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
