After two years of growth, the global travel set market decreased by -11.6% to $X in 2021. Overall, the total consumption indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +81.2% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the production volume increased by 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global production hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

In 2021, shipments abroad of travel sets decreased by -4.9% to X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, total exports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +50.6% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports reached the maximum at X units in 2020, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

In value terms, travel set exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 17%. The global exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

China prevails in exports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 82% of total exports in 2021. Turkey (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Turkey (+51.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +51.5% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of China and Turkey increased by +25 and +2.5 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest travel set supplier worldwide, comprising 75% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 3.1% share of global exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China was relatively modest.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average travel set export price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 22% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The global export price peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while China stood at $X per unit.

In 2021, global imports of travel sets reached X units, leveling off at the year before. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 16%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of global imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, travel set imports totaled $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a mild slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 13%. Over the period under review, global imports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, the United States (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units) were the largest importers of travel setsaround the world, together constituting 37% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the UK (X units), generating a 4.9% share of total imports. Turkey (X units), Nigeria (X units), Germany (X units), Malaysia (X units), Indonesia (X units), Qatar (X units), France (X units), Russia (X units), Canada (X units) and Hong Kong SAR (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Turkey (with a CAGR of +43.9%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest travel set importing markets worldwide were the United Arab Emirates ($X), the United States ($X) and the UK ($X), with a combined 39% share of global imports. These countries were followed by Turkey, Qatar, Germany, France, Malaysia, Canada, Hong Kong SAR, Russia, Indonesia and Nigeria, which together accounted for a further 27%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Turkey, with a CAGR of +44.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average travel set import price amounted to $X per unit, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 9.9%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
