In value terms, trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt descent. Germany represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which amounted to 40% of total exports. The United States (X tons) held a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by China (12%), Japan (8.5%), France (8.2%) and the Czech Republic (5.2%). Belgium (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene exports from Germany stood at +1.0%. At the same time, the Czech Republic (+5.4%) and China (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Czech Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +5.4% from 2012-2021. Japan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. In terms of the main exporting countries, China, with a CAGR of +5.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In 2021, the average trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 20% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a noticeable decline. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene (perchloroethylene) worldwide, comprising 21% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with an 8.1% share of global imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 5.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China amounted to +9.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+3.6% per year) and the United States (-0.3% per year).
