The global net fabric market declined markedly to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -15.3% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, posted prominent growth. Global consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Net Fabric Production
In value terms, net fabric production fell to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, showed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global production hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, the amount of tulles and other net fabrics exported worldwide reached X tons, with an increase of 9.5% against the previous year's figure. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 9.6% against the previous year. The global exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, net fabric exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
China represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which recorded 64% of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Turkey (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 25% share of total exports. Hong Kong SAR (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to net fabric exports from China stood at +7.1%. At the same time, Turkey (+9.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +9.3% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Taiwan (Chinese) (-4.3%) and Hong Kong SAR (-6.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+21 p.p.) and Turkey (+4.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2022, the share of Hong Kong SAR (-5.4 p.p.) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-15.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest net fabric supplier worldwide, comprising 52% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with a 17% share of global exports. It was followed by Hong Kong SAR, with an 8.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China stood at +9.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (-3.4% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (-0.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average net fabric export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hong Kong SAR (+5.8%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Net Fabric Imports

In 2022, supplies from abroad of tulles and other net fabrics increased by 13% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, total imports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +14.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 54% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of global imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, net fabric imports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Vietnam (X tons) represented the major importer of tulles and other net fabrics, constituting 26% of total imports. Pakistan (X tons) held a 9.5% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Uzbekistan (5.6%), Russia (5.5%), Indonesia (4.7%) and Sri Lanka (4.6%). Bangladesh (X tons), Myanmar (X tons), Brazil (X tons), China (X tons), Bolivia (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to net fabric imports into Vietnam stood at +5.8%. At the same time, Pakistan (+74.6%), Uzbekistan (+58.4%), Bolivia (+40.3%), Myanmar (+39.3%), Sri Lanka (+33.6%), Brazil (+23.8%), Indonesia (+21.1%) and Bangladesh (+18.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Pakistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +74.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Cambodia (-2.2%), Russia (-2.4%) and China (-14.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Pakistan, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Brazil and Bolivia increased by +9.5, +6.5, +5.6, +4.2, +3.8, +3.1, +3.1, +2.7 and +2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported tulles and other net fabrics worldwide, comprising 25% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Indonesia ($X), with a 10% share of global imports. It was followed by Pakistan, with a 7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Vietnam amounted to +5.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (+23.9% per year) and Pakistan (+82.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average net fabric import price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -3.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 7.5%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while Bolivia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
