In 2021, the UK (X units), distantly followed by France (X units), Hong Kong SAR (X units), Canada (X units), Russia (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Singapore (X units) and Germany (X units) were the largest exporters of turbo-jets of a thrust exceeding X kn, together constituting 72% of total exports. The average turbo-jet (over X kn) export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -8.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 49%. The global export price peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Japan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into the United States increased at an average annual rate of +26.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Zimbabwe (+50.7%), India (+39.9%), Singapore (+23.0%), Hong Kong SAR (+8.4%), China (+6.0%) and the UK (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Zimbabwe emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +50.7% from 2012-2021. France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Brazil (-2.3%), Canada (-3.6%), Germany (-7.7%) and the Dominican Republic (-8.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United States (+38 p.p.), Singapore (+4.1 p.p.), Zimbabwe (+2.1 p.p.) and India (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of Brazil (-1.7 p.p.), Canada (-3.3 p.p.), the Dominican Republic (-4.1 p.p.) and Germany (-5.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X), the UK ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 37% of global imports. Singapore, Germany, France, China, India, Brazil, Canada, Zimbabwe and the Dominican Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.

Among the main importing countries, India, with a CAGR of +41.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average turbo-jet (over X kn) import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 73% against the previous year. In general, the import price posted tangible growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 2,858% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit), while the Dominican Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
