From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +17.9%), while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-alloy steel u-section supplying countries worldwide were China ($X), Turkey ($X) and Spain ($X), with a combined 44% share of global exports.

China, with a CAGR of +28.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Malaysia (X tons), the United States (X tons), Germany (X tons), Singapore (X tons), France (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Canada (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), the UK (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +7.0%), while imports for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), Germany ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 16% share of global imports. Russia, the Netherlands, Singapore, the UK, Poland, Canada, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.

Among the main importing countries, Singapore, with a CAGR of +9.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average non-alloy steel u-section import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, non-alloy steel u-section import price increased by +62.7% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 45% against the previous year.
