The shipments of the five major exporters of wheat gluten, namely China, Belgium, Germany, France and Australia, represented more than two-thirds of total export. The Netherlands (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 5.5% share, followed by Russia (4.8%). Poland (X tons), Austria (X tons), Lithuania (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Austria (with a CAGR of +88.0%), while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest wheat gluten supplying countries worldwide were China ($X), Australia ($X) and Belgium ($X), together accounting for 46% of global exports. Germany, France, Poland, Lithuania, Austria, the Netherlands, Russia, the UK and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 46%.
Hungary, with a CAGR of +83.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average wheat gluten export price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 18% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 20% against the previous year. The global export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +40.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, global imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2022, the United States (X tons) and Norway (X tons) represented the largest importers of wheat glutenacross the globe, together constituting 38% of total imports. The Netherlands (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by France (X tons). All these countries together held near 15% share of total imports. Belgium (X tons), the UK (X tons), Australia (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Brazil (X tons), Germany (X tons), Poland (X tons), Canada (X tons) and Japan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
