In value terms, glass fibre fabrics exports declined to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.
Exports by Country
China represented the largest exporter of glass fibre fabrics in the world, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 35% of total exports in 2022. The Czech Republic (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 12% share, followed by Belarus (4.9%). Germany (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Belgium (X tons), India (X tons), Latvia (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to glass fibre fabrics exports from China stood at +2.6%. At the same time, Egypt (+89.4%), India (+25.7%), Turkey (+10.6%), the Czech Republic (+5.6%), Hungary (+4.8%), Latvia (+3.9%), Hong Kong SAR (+3.2%) and Belarus (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +89.4% from 2012-2022. Germany, Italy, Taiwan (Chinese) and Belgium experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the Czech Republic, India and Egypt increased by +3.2, +2.9 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest glass fibre fabrics supplier worldwide, comprising 18% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with an 8.8% share of global exports. It was followed by Germany, with an 8.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China stood at +2.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Czech Republic (+4.4% per year) and Germany (+0.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average glass fibre fabrics export price amounted to $X per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 3.2%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Global imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, glass fibre fabrics imports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 22%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped notably in the following year.
Imports by Country
Germany (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) represented the main importers of glass fibre fabrics in 2022, reaching approx. 9.3% and 8.3% of total imports, respectively. Italy (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Poland (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Mexico (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 20% share of total imports. The following importers - India (X tons), Japan (X tons), Spain (X tons), France (X tons), Thailand (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and the United States (X tons) - together made up 23% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +10.1%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), South Korea ($X) and Japan ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 23% of global imports. The United States, Mexico, France, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Thailand, Spain, Russia and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Thailand, with a CAGR of +10.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average glass fibre fabrics import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -7.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 7.3% against the previous year. Global import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
