In 2021, China (X units), distantly followed by the Netherlands (X units), Japan (X units) and the United States (X units) represented the major importers of x-ray tubes, together comprising 54% of total imports. France (X units), Germany (X units), Singapore (X units), South Korea (X units), Turkey (X units), Poland (X units), India (X units), Brazil (X units) and Belgium (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into China increased at an average annual rate of +12.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Poland (+20.1%), Belgium (+15.5%), Turkey (+14.1%), India (+5.1%), Singapore (+4.3%), Brazil (+3.5%), South Korea (+3.0%) and Japan (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +20.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United States (-3.0%), Germany (-3.4%), France (-4.1%) and the Netherlands (-11.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+17 p.p.), Poland (+2.1 p.p.) and Turkey (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of France (-1.9 p.p.), the United States (-2.4 p.p.) and the Netherlands (-21.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported x-ray tubes worldwide, comprising 29% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 14% share of global imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 10% share.
In China, x-ray tube imports increased at an average annual rate of +12.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United States (+2.0% per year) and Japan (+0.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average x-ray tube import price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 6.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last nine-year period.
